We provide the midpoint refreshments for the cyclists. It's an opportunity to offer support and celebrate, as the participants are Amy's friends, family, colleagues, and students. Funds raised by cyclists and walkers go to the Amy Hurn Scholarship Fund.
Amy was a member of West Point Grey District. She grew up in the neighbourhood, was a girl member for many years, and became a guider in the 35th Guides. She loved camping and the outdoors. In her "day job", Amy taught Science at Van Tech Secondary and was the department head - she brought those skills to her unit and the District as well. To honour her memory, we established a camping award – the Amy Hurn Camping Bursary – given each year to a girl who shows passion and enthusiasm for camping and other outdoor activities.
We'll be out there on Sunday, September 13th this year. If you would like to know more about this event, take a look at the website: http://www.amyhurn.com/aboutamy.html
