Our Rangers have been doing lots of bridging, with some girls helping in units as junior leaders, as well as inviting other groups to their unit activities. They were off to Saltspring for a hike-kayak weekend, then it was Camp Byng for a joint Guiding-Scouting board game camp, followed by Holiday Camp at Camp Kanaka.

We have two Pathfinder units with a total of about 55 girls, so that keeps the leaders and girls very busy!
The 50th Pathfinders have been doing program work, completing service projects – such as making warm fleece scarves and blankets for the Downtown Eastside Women's Centre – and exploring Victoria while staying at the local Guide House. The 58th Pathfinders had a Survivor-themed camp at Camp Kanaka, joined the Rangers for Holiday Camp, and helped with preparations for the Area International Showcase. With spring approaching, more camps and events are in the works ..... Our 4 Guide units have been very busy since September, pursuing program goals, having sleepovers, and going to camp.
The 34th Guides are keen on sleepovers – they've gone to Southlands Farm, completed the Harry Potter Expelliarmus Challenge, and just held a Onesie Challenge. The 35th Guides went to Horse Camp and Hollyburn Chalet. The 44th Guides camped at Mount Seymour and Hollyburn Chalet. The 43rd Guides have been exploring their interests with lots of girl-led meetings. Coming up, they have an outdoor-themed camp with the 34th Guides at Camp Capilano. Stay tuned for more updates ..... Our Brownie units have been very busy since September, launching into action right away. All three units had a sleepover (30th and 36th) or camp (59th) in October, working on building independence and friendships among the girls.
In January, many 30th and 36th Brownies had a fun-filled sleepover at the Space Centre, exploring the universe and launching early morning bottle rockets. At the beginning of February, the 59th Brownies went back to Camp Olave for another great weekend camp. Lots of program work is underway, and the girls are busily learning and earning badges. Thinking Day is coming up this week, so girls will be exploring Guiding around the world. The 30th Brownies were selected to test Girls First materials, helping to pilot some of the new program. Stay tuned for more updates .... Our Sparks have been busy since units started up in September. First year girls are learning about being a Spark, making friends, and discovering their community. Second year girls are developing some leadership skills and exploring other opportunities.
In November, both the 2nd Sparks and 12th Sparks were off to Spark and Mom Camp on the Sunshine Coast. Everyone had a great time, explored Camp Olave, and had a taste of camp. The Sparks had sleepovers in their meeting places, building some independence in preparation for District and unit camps in the spring. Stay tuned for more updates! |
