Our units have been up to all sorts of fun over the winter months – from festive celebrations to camps and sleepovers. Many groups had parties as we approached the winter break, including silly photo booths, crafts, games, and other activities to brighten up the short December days. The 58th Pathfinders and Orion Rangers boldly ventured to Camp Capilano for their annual Holiday Camp. Despite some blustery weather, they explored the lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge as well. In January, the 34th Guides went to Camp Olave and some girls and families attended the Canucks game. The 2nd Sparks had a great time building clubhouses thanks to a donation from Lego. So far in February, the 35th Guides had an Amazing Race sleepover, the 30th Brownies and 59th Brownies had a joint camp at Camp Olave, and the 43rd Guides and 50th Pathfinders went to Camp Capilano together. Bridging events, where several unit collaborate, give girls the chance to make new friends and catch up with girls from school or elsewhere. Our older girls can be role models for younger ones, giving them valuable leadership experience.
We've been learning about all kinds of things, from Lunar New Year traditions and pig-snorting contests to some amazing visits with police officers and firefighters. Lots more is on the horizon, so stay tuned for upcoming events! |
