On May 27th, the 43rd Guides explored their local surroundings starting with a tour of the UBC Botanic Garden. Paul, who led the tour, introduced concepts ranging from urban farming to plant biodiversity. Then it was on to the treetop canopy walk. Josh and May led the two groups, showing them the secrets of edible plants, spotting woodpeckers, and talking about grand firs and other native species. After lunch, it was a hot walk along trails to Wesbrook Village – just in time for an impromptu stop to cool off at the water park! Then time to play some team-building games before heading back to meet parents. It was a great day out with friends and leaders!
